We’d like to welcome Specchio Magico Cooperativa Sociale Onlus to the KCS members’ network.
Specchio Magico (SM), which translates as Magic Mirror, is an Italian organisation that works with schools and children in developing new techniques that help improve knowledge and life skills. The organisation is also very well-known for the development and implementation of educational resources modules to prevent child abuse. These resources are developed in alignment with the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) and the European Network for Social Educational Competencies (ENSEC) frameworks.
SM has 24 professionals involved in its work, including pedagogists, psychotherapists and educators. To date, SM has reached over 35,000 children in Europe.
As always, we welcome their comment on why they decided to join the KCS members’ network, in their own words:
What made you decide to join the KCS members’ network?
We decided to be part of KCS because we work on primary prevention against child abuse and neglect, school-based programmes, and we collaborate with schools, public bodies, and we often work on protocols and agreements where child safeguarding policies are essential, necessary. We would like to promote a culture around the theme and implement action to spread this approach, in specific, into our areas of intervention.
What is your key driver to implementing child safeguarding?
We would like to promote culture and action around child safeguarding throughout our project. We reached more than 35,000 children and we are implementing action to support 3 to 4 thousand children and families every year.
Where do you think your organisation will be regarding child safeguarding in a year?
We would be satisfied if in a year we will be a collaborative and integrated part of KCS’s Global Network, linking our activities at the National level with you. We dream to realize an Italian version of the KCS platform with you in a few years time.
What message do you want to tell your staff, donors and the wider world?
We would like to tell our staff and stakeholders that we are constantly focused on the “best interest of the child” through this new opportunity. KCS Network Membership is one more step in that direction.
