International Child Safeguarding Week 2024
21–25 October 2024
International Child Safeguarding Week (ICSW) is a global campaign initiated by Keeping Children Safe to emphasise that safeguarding children from exploitation and abuse is everyone’s responsibility. This week-long event will feature a variety of activities designed to raise awareness, provide education and showcase good practices in child safeguarding.
Each day during International Child Safeguarding Week will focus on different practical aspects of child safeguarding tailored to various functional areas within organisations. Throughout the week, this ‘live’ webpage will be updated daily with new resources, so you can access and share the materials at any time to suit your schedule.
21 October 2024 – Child safeguarding in communications
Explore how to safeguard children from potential harm caused by communications activities and learn how to include children’s images, stories, and views in a way that is safe and respectful.
22 October 2024 – Child safeguarding responsibilities for researchers
Discover tools and guidance for keeping children safe during research and co-creation projects, including risk assessment, interviews and child participation.
23 October 2024 – Child safeguarding responsibilities for trustees and leaders
Learn about the vital role trustees and leaders play in creating safer organisational cultures and safeguarding children within their teams.
24 October 2024 – Localisation and working with partners on child safeguarding
Gain tips and resources on working with partners to ensure that safeguarding measures are appropriate to the local context.
25 October 2024 – Child Safeguarding Champions of the Year
Celebrate the dedication and impact of individuals worldwide who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to safeguarding children. We will announce and honour the winners of the KCS Child Safeguarding Champion of the Year award, spotlighting their contributions and inspiring others in the child safeguarding community.

We are now accepting nominations for the Child Safeguarding Champion of the Year Award 2024. This award recognises individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles to protect children from abuse and exploitation.
If you know someone who deserves this recognition, please nominate them by 22 September 2024 using the nomination form linked below. We will announce and honour the winner and runner-up during the last day of International Child Safeguarding Week.
