This January, Alana Constenla joined Keeping Children Safe to lead our communications strategy with the goal of growing and connecting with our audiences. She will use her experience designing high-impact and engaging communication strategies to support our efforts for delivering our global mission.
In this interview, we look into Alana’s professional experiences and what motivated her to join Keeping Children Safe.
What inspired you to join Keeping Children Safe?
It has been a professional goal of mine to be part of a team that works to improve the quality of life of people. I am motivated by the opportunity to apply my knowledge in communications to promote child safeguarding and do my part to ensure that children everywhere are free from abuse and can grow in safe environments.
How can communications help Keeping Children Safe’s mission?
Effective communication can have a big impact in the achievement of the organisation’s goals. I aim to craft pieces that can showcase the work being done worldwide, plus I hope our communications can inspire individuals, organisations or communities to join us in safeguarding children and ensuring their wellbeing.
What skills or vision do you hope to contribute to the team?
In past work experiences, I have developed communications strategies to make organisations more visible, and I have learnt to think outside the box to experiment new ways to get stories across and connect with audiences. I hope to bring fresh ideas to Keeping Children Safe and contribute with my creativity.
Why is child safeguarding important to you?
It’s essential that children everywhere can live free from abuse and have the protection they need to enjoy their childhood. Childhood is a foundational moment of our lives; it’s important to have a safe space to learn, explore and grow. Every child deserves it.
