SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina attains KCS Certification

We are glad to announce that SOS Children’s Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina has attained a Level 1 Certification by KCS in 2024, which highlights their determination to create environments free from abuse. As first-time recipients of this certification, they are equipping themselves with new tools and practices to safeguard the children and families they serve and at KCS we are honoured to support them in that process.

Since 1994, SOS Children’s Villages has been working in Bosnia and Herzegovina to offer children and young people without parental care the opportunity to grow up in alternative families, alongside brothers, sisters and SOS parents, in a nurturing, family-based environment. Currently, 196 children and youth are growing up in alternative care provided by SOS Children’s Villages, while 41 families benefit from their Family Strengthening Programme.

SOS Children’s Villages is doing enormous amounts of work to provide children in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a sense of belonging, access to education and a chance for a brighter future. Certification at Level 1 is a meaningful way to reward the hard work the team has put into ensuring a robust child safeguarding framework is in place. It’s a testament to the commitment and effort invested in creating a safe environment for children. We hope to contribute to their mission by building stronger systems that enable them to give every child a safe experience.
