We’d like to say a big welcome to our latest member HopeCo, formerly Teamwork City of Hope, is a faith based organisation that seeks to provide holistic care for transformation, enabling children, their families, and communities through their school/education, health and Gender Based Violence programmes. They are a US based organisation working in Tanzania and Kenya.
What made you decide to join the KCS members’network?
As an organisation, we are committed to ensuring that we do all we can to protect children – both those in our programs and others from the communities where we work. This means learning from the experience and expertise of others and accessing quality resources that will help us as we pursue excellence in this area. HopeCo – and those that we serve – will therefore benefit significantly from our membership of KCS.
What is your key driver to implement child safeguarding?
We want to ensure that we implement best practices – policies, processes, training of our people, and accountability structures – that safeguard the children and others that we are connected with.
Where do you think your organisation will be regarding child safeguarding in a year?
Strengthen internal audit processes, improve training of staff, and begin to influence the broader ‘safeguarding landscape’ in the communities where we serve.
What message do you want to tell your staff, donors and the wider world?
We all have a responsibility to keep children safe. We must take this responsibility seriously, make safeguarding a top priority in our organisations and programs, and ensure that we are constantly learning and growing so that children are able to flourish in safe, secure environments.
