18 November 2024 – Rising Academies, a leading provider of affordable, high-quality education in West and East Africa, has officially joined the Keeping Children Safe (KCS) global network. This partnership reinforces Rising Academies’ ongoing commitment to safeguarding children in its network of over 900 schools, serving more than a quarter of a million students across Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia and East Africa.
Founded in 2014, Rising Academies was born from a mission to offer innovative and scalable solutions to the education crisis in Africa, particularly in countries affected by conflict and humanitarian emergencies. Since its inception, the organisation has made significant strides in improving educational outcomes for underserved children through great curriculum materials, intensive teacher coaching and actionable data.
However, a great mission comes with the great responsibility to protect the students entrusted to their care. By partnering with KCS, Rising Academies is bolstering its child safeguarding policies and practices to ensure every child can learn in a safe, nurturing environment.
‘At Rising Academies, child safeguarding is of utmost importance, and we are committed to continually improving and strengthening our practices,’ said George Cowell, Chief Strategy Officer for Rising Academies. ‘We behave at all times as if the whole world is watching and by joining KCS, we can ensure that our safeguarding practices remain at the highest international standards.’
The partnership with KCS will provide Rising Academies with access to resources, tools and training on international child safeguarding standards. It will also enable them to collaborate with other global leaders in child safeguarding, ensuring that they stay at the forefront of safeguarding practices in education.
Together, Rising Academies and KCS aim to create safer learning environments for every child and prevent abuse and exploitation in educational settings. By integrating KCS’s safeguarding standards into its expanding network, Rising Academies hopes to become a leading advocate for child safeguarding in Africa.
