We are thrilled to welcome Afrikindness to the KCS network, a dedicated organisation that has become a beacon of support for minority ethnic communities through Africa and the UK by partnering with schools and parents.
Afrikindness’ work is driven by a mission to create awareness, provide training, and empower communities to recognise and prevent safeguarding concerns. In 2024, they launched their Community Empowerment programme, which incorporates safeguarding in its core, and includes offering training and carrying awareness campaigns in the communities they work with to build safer environments for children.
Speaking about their decision to join the KCS network, Afrikindness’ CEO Bunmi Owolabi said: ‘As an organisation committed to child safeguarding, we recognise the importance of aligning with a global standard for child protection. KCS’s expertise, resources and community of like-minded organisations provide the support we need to ensure that safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.’
Over the next year, Afrikindness envisions a tremendous impact: they plan to train hundreds of families and young people, offer intervention support, reinforce their place as a trusted advocate for child safeguarding and keep working to foster positive racial identity development among young people.
At KCS, we are proud to welcome Afrikindness to our global network and are excited about the positive change we can achieve together!
