Let’s learn a bit more about this new team member that will help the KCS team advance child protection and safeguarding measures.
What inspired you to join Keeping Children Safe?
My work with vulnerable youth populations across Cameroon and West Africa has shown me the critical importance of robust safeguarding systems. Through my experience at Ignite Philanthropy and Leap Girl Africa, I’ve seen firsthand how proper safeguarding measures can transform communities and protect children’s futures. Joining Keeping Children Safe – an organisation that sets global standards for child protection – allows me to expand this impact across Africa.
What are the main fields or topics you wish to work on as part of KCS team?
I aim to strengthen safeguarding protocols across Africa. I want to develop comprehensive safeguarding frameworks that address the unique challenges faced by crisis-affected populations such as refugees and communities with more vulnerable populations. Additionally, I plan to work among local organisations and communities to implement effective child protection measures.
What skills or vision do you hope to contribute to the team?
I bring a combination of practical experience in safeguarding program design and implementation, along with strong cross-cultural communication skills. My vision is to strengthen regional networks for child protection, leveraging my experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership development. I hope to contribute to developing innovative approaches to safeguarding that are culturally sensitive and locally sustainable.
Why is child safeguarding important to you?
Child safeguarding is fundamental to ensuring every child’s right to a safe, nurturing environment where they can reach their full potential. I’ve witnessed how effective safeguarding measures can prevent harm and create positive environments for growth and development, and build sustainable systems that ensure children’s safety and wellbeing for generations to come.
