Hola SSEWA-Pak

We’d like to welcome the Society for Safe Environment and Welfare of Agrarians in Pakistan (SSEWA-Pak) to the KCS members’ network.

Based in the Sindh region of Pakistan, SSEWA-Pak is a non-profit non-governmental organisation which focuses on empowering communities through their involvement and participation. It runs a resource centre with guest rooms where different capacity-building programmes are organised, including livelihood development as well as education and skills development for women and children.

As always, we welcome their comment on why they decided to join the KCS members’ network, in their own words:

What is your key driver in your ambition to implement child safeguarding?

SSEWA-Pak has been an advocate of child safeguarding since 2010 when we drafted our first child protection policy. Since then we have implemented it within our organisation and project sites. With our project beneficiaries, we feel that we need to raise more voices on child safeguarding for wider awareness. Moreover, as one of the oldest organisations in the area, we feel that God has given us the opportunity to learn from KCS, and we should also help other Christian organisations in the area to develop child safeguarding policies and develop implementation plans. It is our passion to build our own capacity and also other organisations around us to set tough standards on child safeguarding.

What made you decide to join the KCS members’ network?

We came to know about KCS through Tearfund, and we were thriving to have a technical partner who could further help us to improve our policy and plans on child safeguarding and raise our voice in churches and organisations around us at a large scale. In the context of Pakistan, we feel that there is a great need for institutions to set up tough standards on child safeguarding.

Where do you think your organisation will be regarding child safeguarding in a year?

We foresee SSEWA-Pak as a leading voice on child protection in our region and a technical partner for other small organisations to think and adopt child safeguarding as a key priority. We will promote with other organisations to connect with KCS and become a network member. In the next 12- 24 months, we hope to become a certified KCS member.

What message do you want to tell your staff, donors, and the wider world?

Let’s work together to ensure child safeguarding is our key priority every day, every time and every moment!
